Masalaha Development Association has honored its 36 members from 10 communities across Municipal local government area of Kano state.
The 36 members honored by the association were from Marmara, Alfindiki, Sheshe, Sabonsara, Sudawa, Kwalwa, Kududdufawa, Akwa, Daneji and Jingau.
The Chairman, Masalaha Development Association, Comrade Bashir Shu’abu said the awardees were honored in recognition of their contributions to the development of their communities.
“We organised the event annually in order to encourage others to emulate the awardees by contributing towards the development of their people,” he said.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman Masalaha Board of Trustees, Group Captain Rufa’i D. Garba (Rtd) said from the inception of the association 20 years ago, many people had benefitted from its developmental programmes.
Garba, however, lamented the deterioration of the education sub-sector in the state, urging the government to save the situation by giving the primary education the deserved priority, saying no society could develop without given sound education to its people.
“We are all aware of the pathetic state of primary education in Nigeria. Most of the teachers in our public primary schools are not qualified. Majority of them are doing the work because they don’t have alternative job. Government needs to do something urgent to save the situation,” he advised.
The awardees include Kano state commissioner of finance Dr Aminu Mukhtar Dan’amu, Acting Registrar of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal studies, Dr Abubakar Yunusa and Malama Tasallah Nabilisi Bako.
Others are Professor Mustapha I. Abdullahi, Dr Auwalu Saminu, Dr Mukhtar Musa Bako, Dr Adamu Kamaludden Nama’aji, Alhaji Hamza Bala Baba and Dr Mukhtar Musa Bako of the Account Department, Bayero University Kano.
