The association according to the president was prepared to ban quackery while maintaining sustainable drilling practice in the country.
He made this known at the launching of the Abuja chapter of AWDROP and the launch of an advocacy tool titled ‘Water as a Seed’ recently in Abuja.
The Abuja chapter is to serve as an instrument at the centre to fight unwholesome practice and quackery in Nigeria.
According to Ale, the process of eliminating the quacks is ongoing as AWDROP has started capacity announcement programme where members are undergoing training to be articulate and skillful. “We have many experienced people but not skilful,” he said.
He added that they have started enforcing regulatory activities in terms of standardization of drilling standard and also became members of international bodies that see to the affairs of water all over the world in order to maintain safety standard and sanction any erring members.
While recounting the achievement of the association which has grown from 40 members to over 300 members and from one state to over 27 states of the federation as well as joining the international bodies to celebrate World Water Day in Nigeria for the first time, the president also spoke of the problems associated with drilling which includes the way contract are awarded, finance, incursion of Asian drillers, equipment and management training among others.
Ale urged that AWDROP should be adopted as ministry of water resources implementing arm so as budget in drilling will involve members and also to ensure that henceforth, no contract will be awarded to brief case contractors.
The newly inaugurated chairman of Abuja chapter, Tom Okiluah in his welcome address said it is the concern for safe water  for drinking that constitutes the basis of their coming together as a group thus the standardization of water extraction in Abuja and its environ are of utmost concern to them as practitioners in this field.
The Director General of National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Benebo Ngeri who was represented by Ezinwa Ezeka, Deputy Director Environmental Quality and Technology said that water encompasses everything around the people and it is a necessity of life and can also serve as a medium through which one can get sick if not professionally handled and that is why all operations must be environmentally friendly.
She added that NESREA will partner with AWDROP to ensure that quacks are stopped in the profession.
