Aston Villa have been crowned Europa League winners with a 3-0 victory over SC Freiburg of Germany, on Wednesday.

The EPL side subdued the physical Germans at the Tupras stadium in Istanbul, Turkey, thanks to excellent strikes from Youri Tielemans and Emiliano Buendia towards the end of the first half, and Morgan Rogers’ early second half strike handed fans an early start to the victory party.

Tielemans netted a screamer on the volley following a short corner kick routine on 41 minutes for the opener, and Buendia curled expertly into the top corner to double the lead.

Rodgers then poked home Buendia’s cross at the near post to seal the club’s first title in 30 years.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery lifts the Europa League for a fifth time to extend his record as the most successful manager in the competition.

He also becomes the first manager to win the trophy with three different teams, following his three-time success with Sevilla, and one title with Villarreal.

Aston Villa have also qualified for the European Super Cup where they will meet the winner of the UEFA Champions League final between Arsenal and PSG.
