Journalists from NTA, AIT, Channels Television, Radio Nigeria and other media organisations have been turned back right from the main gate of Federal University of Technology FUT), Minna  where the meeting of the National Executive Council of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) about calling off strike is going on.

 Security men at the gate of the institution told one of the journalist that the ASUU local branch chair, Abdulfatai Jimoh, handed them the order.

 All effort to reach the local ASUU chairman failed as he could not be reach on phone.

The National Executives of Academic Staff Union of Universities’  (ASUU)  are still in a  meeting that started over four hours ago at Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna to decide on calling off the six months old industrial action today.
Although, both the President and the chairman of the local chapter of the union could not be reached  as all calls put to  their phones  were not answered, a source close to the Institution told this reporter that the meeting is at present taking place in the Senate Chamber of the University.
It was also gathered that the meeting that has all the national executives in attendance is chaired by president of the union, Dr. Nasir Fagge.
Contacted on the venue of the meeting, the University spokesperson, Mrs Lydia, said she did not know about the venue of the meeting.
