The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Jos Branch said it has withdrawn from participating in all Post Graduate programmes in the university with effect from 20th June, 2021. This was contained in a letter addressed to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council University of Jos, and signed by the ASUU University of Jos branch Chairperson and Secretary, Dr Lazarus Maigoro and Dr H.L. Njila, respectively.
The letter which was obtained by our correspondent said the reason for the lecturers’ withdrawal of their services from all the postgraduate programmes was due to what they termed the refusal of the university administration to implement the Council approved 2016 Post Graduate sharing formula to take care of payments for teaching Post Graduate courses.
“Consequently, by this notice, our members will not participate in teaching and supervision (thesis and dissertations, examinations, seminars, defence of any kind whether at Post Graduate school, Faculties, Departments, Units, mark scripts, compile Post Graduate results etc). All members are hereby directed to comply as sanctions shall apply to any violator,” he said.
