The church held its “Night of Praise” Friday night through the early hours of yesterday. This morning, the church is giving thanks and appreciating God for the life of its General Overseer.

Speaking to Sunday Sermon, Pastor-in-Charge of His Grace Tabernacle Parish, Remilekun Oladejo, described Pastor Adeboye as a man of vision and humility.
Oladejo said of Adeboye, “God gave him a mission statement and this is a man who has a strong passion for soul-winning. He is a man of unparallel humility and his vision to grow the Redeemed Christian Church of God—that is in every five minutes drive, in the developed cities of this world and five minutes walk in underdeveloped nation—the vision is that almost all members of the world become members of the Redeem family. If you invite him to come and give a lecture, he must end that lecture with evangelism and soul winning.
“The aim of our gathering here is to see how many will give their lives so the kingdom of God will expand.”
He explained why the church grows from strength to strength: “There was a prophecy from God that this church is going to be an end-time church and will be known all over the world. We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ is coming back and this is the church that He will meet. That is the secret behind the expansion—every street, every home.
“If you go to our redemption ground along Ibadan express way in Lagos, the city is big and the auditorium there is the biggest in the world—biggest in the sense that it is two kilometres and it is covered. This is a child’s play. We aspire to have a place as big as Ibadan.”
He advised Christians in Abuja saying, “It is only God who promotes a man. In Abuja, every one is running after money. But God does not work on you running after the things of this world. The bible tells us that ‘seek ye first the kingdom of God and all other things will follow.’ Go identify with the work of God first—always be in His presence and the challenges will go. Young Christians in Abuja should give their lives to Jesus Christ.”
Our reporter observed that the church places high premium on music. The church’s choir is large with hi-tech equipment. The choir, comprising graceful young men and women is called the Royal Levites.
Lovet Okon who is the leader of the Royal Levites said God has been kind to them and with the vision of their pastor, things have progressed well over the past two years. She called on young men and women to come to the church and showcase their talents.
Patricia Mogeku, a chorister, said their vision is to go beyond the shores of Nigeria and reach out not only to unbelievers but also the depressed, the oppressed, the sick and the needy.
“Our aim is to lift up burden, bring deliverance to the people through song and ministration. It is music that draws many people to the church,” she said.
