At last, Tinubu populates FCC with seasoned citizens – Onuigbo

A member of the Governing Board of North East Development Commission (NEDC), Rep. Sir Sam Onuigbo, has noted with glee that at last President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has reconstituted the Federal Character Commission (FCC) by appointing qualitative citizens with character and competence.

Onuigbo specifically thanked the President for the appointment of his successors as Commissioners for Finance in Abia State, Obinna Oriaku, former colleagues in the House of Representatives, Jerry Alagbaoso and Ayo Omidiran.

He disclosed that the President has shown that the building of a great nation may take baby steps, it demands tact, patience and foresight, stressing that the President has invested those qualities in the appointment of members of the crucial national body.

Onuigbo, who is a former two-term member of the House of Representatives, disclosed that President Tinubu could not have made a better choice for the position of chairman of FCC than the selection of Ayo Hulayat Omidiran to head the commission.

While reminiscing on Hon Omidiran’s qualitative representation during her terms in the House of Representatives, Onuigbo praised her level-headedness, team-spiritedness and detribalized nature.

“I must commend Mr President and the leader of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), for showing once again that he is determined to build a great nation. I am remarkably impressed by the President’s choice of Hon. Omidiran to chair the Federal Character Commission at this point in time of our national reformation.

“Hon. Omidiran served Nigeria in the past in different capacities, especially as a member of the House of Representatives where she occupied the position of Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Sports and membership of many other committees, including Women Affairs and Women in Parliament.

“Coming at a time when the Falcons and D’Tigress made Nigeria proud in the Female Cup of Nations football tournament and Afro Basketball, President Tinubu has shown that indeed, he values the contribution of women as partners in progress.”

Onuigbo, who sponsored Nigeria’s signature legislation on climate sustainability, the Climate Chance Act 2021, expressed the confidence that the new appointees to the FCC will join hands with President Tinubu to deliver the goods through the Renewed Hope Agenda for nation building.
