It was written by Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, who said one of the issues treated in the book is a burning one in society today, which is security. “We look at the police angle, the perceived failure of the policing system and the rise of vigilantism and I believe the interest in the industry would avert off some of those things. I want to state this, even the criminals in the society by the time they see Nollywood stars, they forget about criminality. Also, when readers relax and enjoy the book, they will be more enlightened about the industry.”
The book launch was anchored by Patrick Oghoro, a Nollywood actor, Mike Ogbolosinger and Gift of Capitol FM. There was also an entertainment interlude by Miko cultural troop and they acted a play to showcase the achievements of Nollywood and also highlight some popular gaffes made in the movies.
Chairman of the book launch, Senator John K. Brabaika gave a speech commending the author and Nollywood. Then Professor Emmanuel Dauduara, who represented Professor Emeka Nwabueze, read the review. He started by commending the author and went on to critically analyze the book.
Kingsley Kuku, the chief launcher, was joined by other dignitaries on the high table to help launch the book and personally co-launched with an undisclosed amount.
The author, Dr. Ayakoroma expressed gratitude to all who took time out to grace the event. Speaking on how Nollywood has fared so far, he said it’s a privately driven industry. “And if it can do this much in over 20 years, we can say it is doing well and can only get better with the support of everyone.”
