Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Sunday restated his commitment to run an allinclusive government, where every community would not be left out in the scheme of affairs.

He stated this while flagging off the ‘One Lagos Fiesta’ at the Agege Stadium, noting that the fiesta was in fulfillment of his campaign promise, as well as a way of improving on what he met on ground when he assumed office on May 29. The ‘One Lagos Fiesta’, an initiative of the present administration, is geared towards ushering in the New Year in an entertaining and communal manner. It is scheduled to hold between December 27, 2015 and January 1, 2016, simultaneously in five locations across Lagos State. The locations are in the five divisions that make up the state, namely Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Epe. The five divisions are jointly referred to as IBILE (an acronym coined from the divisions’ initial letters).

Declaring the fiesta opened at the Ikeja division, the governor recalled that the last time he visited Agege Stadium was during the electioneering, saying that he was back at the stadium to fulfill one of his election promises to the people.

"The last time I came to this stadium was during the campaign and I came with the then APC presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari. Today, however, I am here as governor and President Buhari has been so magnanimous that he has sent us the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, to come and represent him here and say a big thank you to all of you.

"We promised you that we are going to bring governance to the communities; we promised you that we are going to have a government of inclusion where all of you will be included in everything that we will be doing in Lagos State. That is why we are here to say that ‘One Lagos Fiesta’ is about all of you and it is about the rest of Lagos. We want every youth and every parent to enjoy what others have been enjoying in other areas of the state "This is why we have decided to have a five-day programme that will be done in Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Epe. This is the first place I am visiting and this is because you mean a lot to me," Ambode said.

The governor said that his administration was working hard to make Lagos State work for all, just as he assured that good things would start happening in Agege and indeed, in the entire state going forward.

He promised that his government would ensure that the next edition of the fiesta is bigger and better. Prominent musicians that performed at the fiesta include Dbanj, Sasha and Seun Kuti.
