It said the award was conducted in Abuja in December 2013 where the university emerged as the only one in the North East to receive such an award and among the only four from the entire northern states.
It said: “The thesis, researched by Mr Datiri Yuhana Chumang was supervised by Professors Abdullahi Umaru and Y O Sadiq and was titled: ‘An investigation of the suitability of Kareng and Miango volcanic ashes for the production of ceramic bodies and glazes’.”
The statement stated further that 17 awards were received at the occasion by theses from various Nigerian universities.
