A former chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) University of Abuja branch, Malam Ahmed Garba Hassan, has been appointed registrar by the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi.
He was appointed by the Governing Council of ATBU on Thursday following the recommendation of an interview panel which interacted with the shortlisted applicants for the position, a statement from UniAbuja signed by Deputy Registrar (Information and Publications), Waziri Garba, stated.
Malam Hassan who was  born in Bauchi State on September 2, 1967, holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Maiduguri (1992) and a master’s degree in Political Economy and Development Studies from the University of Abuja (2004).
He started his working career at the University of Abuja in 1995 as an Administrative Officer II and rose to the position of Deputy Registrar in November 2015.
He has served in many capacities in the university including Head of the Academic Division, Deputy Registrar Institute of Education, Head junior staff section of the Establishment Division and Faculty Officer in the faculties of Management Sciences, Social Science and Law.
He is a member of many professional associations including the Nigerian Sociological and Anthropological Association, Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA), Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria and is a fellow of the Charted Institute of Administration (CIA).
