The Founder/President, Automobile and Touring Club of Nigeria (ATCN), Ishaku Bamaiyi has announced plans to promote grassroots development of the sport through the organisation of the Festival of Motorsport.
Speaking at the signing ceremony for the 2025 edition of the festival, ATCN Founder and President, Ishaku Bamaiyi, described the event as a milestone for motorsport growth in Nigeria.
As part of ATCN’s strategic innovations, Bamaiyi revealed that the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has delegated Sporting Power to Motorsport Nigeria Ltd. The company, under Alhaji Bashir Ibrahim as the Commercial Rights Holder and Promoter, will oversee the event’s organization and commercial aspects.
“Motorsport Nigeria Ltd will enter this agreement today with Alhaji Bashir Ibrahim as the Commercial Rights Holder/Promoter.
“Motorsport Nigeria Ltd will like to inform potential participants in any discipline, whether as competitors or otherwise, that they must be licensed.
“All competitors, without exception, must participate in our training programs, either physically or online. We are working towards completing and launching our app,” he said.
The Festival of Motorsport will serve as a multi-disciplinary platform for Nigerians to showcase their talents. It will feature dedicated programs for children aged 4 to 17, aligning with the developmental goals of the National Sports Commission under Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko.
In his own submission, the promoter of Festival of Motorsport, Bashir Ibrahim said the festival is an opportunity to contribute to the motorsport in Nigeria.
“We believe is an opportunity to contribute our own to the motorsport in Nigeria. There are so much potential for the sport in Nigeria,” he said.
