A former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has urged the electorate in Kogi State to vote for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Dino Melaye in the Saturday gubernatorial election.
Atiku spoke during the party’s grand finale campaign rally in Lokoja Thursday.
Atiku decried Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello for allegedly denying the party the use of Confluence Stadium, Lokoja to conduct their campaign rally.
He said, “They denied us the use of a stadium in Osun State and we later used the party office for our rally. In the end, the PDP sacked them from the Government House.

“Now they denied us the use of the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja and booked all the hotels just to stop us from coming here. Despite what they did, you all still come to the party secretariat to show solidarity and support for Senator Dino Melaye.
“Dino is committed, courageous and well-focused. I’m appealing to you to come out and vote for him and defend your votes.”
The PDP governorship candidate, Senator Dino Melaye promised to govern the state with the fear of God and humanity if elected.
“Out of the 18 governorship candidates vying for the position of governor, I am the most educated, experienced and exposed,” he said.
The former governor of Kogi State, Idris Wada, said despite the numerous achievements of the PDP, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has set the state backwards with poverty, a weak economy and underdevelopment.
“It is time for the Kogi people to end bad leadership,” he said.
Meanwhile, PDP has cautioned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to perish any thought of rigging the governorship election in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states as the party has mobilised the people to protect their votes.
Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary, in a statement yesterday, said the main opposition party said it will never allow anybody, no matter how highly placed, to manipulate the election.
“Our party states in clear terms that anybody who attempts to rig or manipulate the election in any way may have to deal with the legitimate wrath of the people.
