I wish to write and draw the attention of chairman federal civil service commission (FCSC), Dr Bello Tukur Ingawa over corruption and sharp practices in the commission. Sir, your appointment by Mr. President did not come to many of us as surprise. Having been in the civil service for many years and rose to the position of permanent secretary, served in various ministries attested to the fact you will use your experience to reshape and reposition the commission in line with the laws established it. It is however sad to note, the commission has derailed from its important function of recruiting qualitative man powers to fill the vacancies advertised by ministries. In many recruitments carried out by the commission, the appointments usually go to highest bidders. Unless you will bribe your way, there is no way you can get an appointment through normal process or procedures.

Another problem that needs your prompt action or intervention is the issue of regularization of the appointment. According to the civil service rules, any person who got an appointment or has been recruited should apply and get his or her regularization letter within the period of 6 months. It seems some bad eggs within the commission have made process tedious for their personal gains. Many civil servants spent many years without getting their regularization letter. This loopholes has given some unscrupulous staff a room to extort money from their fellow colleagues. It is alleged that some civil servants pay between ten and twenty thousand to get their regularization letter. This act violates the rules and regulation governing the recruitment of personals.

Sir, these issues raised have continued to paint the commission black and need your serious attention to address them.
