In the name of Allah (SAW), President Muhammadu Buhari should plead with the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Alhai Muhammed Abubakar to pursue our stolen wealth from two of his predecessors, Alhaji Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu and Malam Isa Yuguda and retrieve our stolen money under whatever guise they did it. Bauchi is one of the poorest states in the country and the citizens are in dire need of those stolen funds. It means a lot to us.
Having joined the APC in Bauchi State and contested for the Senate seat of Bauchi North senatorial zone but failed to clinch my party’s nomination and participated vigorously in the campaign for Governor Abubakar during the governorship race in which the governor rode on the slogan of equity, justice and change, I found it pertinent to sought the audience of the governor three months after his inauguration which he granted me. During our meeting I point blank asked His Excellency of his intentions on the Reports of the Transition Committee and how he intended to redeem on our campaign promises to retrieve our common wealth from the previous administrations. The governor said that he intended to proceed with what he deemed as “quiet recovery” from Isa Yuguda and his former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Sallau Dandija. To that I followed up with another question what if they failed to accede to the decent means of recovering the looted funds; he affirmed to me that since he took his oath with the Holy Qur’an he will resort to the law to redress injustice. But one and half year down the line, Bauchi citizens are still waiting for justice. Governor Abubakar as a lawyer knows the fact that in law ‘justice delayed, is justice denied’.
That is why I strongly recommend the disbanding of the Joint Local Government Account (JAAC) as it has proved in my state the charges of governors or parties and administrations cannot have bearing to the manners in which the local government system is abused.
