A nongovernmental organisation, Atyam Global Charity Care Foundation, has offered scholarships to orphans studying in various primary and secondary schools in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.
According to the group, the gesture was meant to ensure that the orphans also felt a sense of belonging in the society and were not left behind in knowledge acquisition.
While issuing the offer letters to the beneficiaries at the office of the foundation in Nasarawa Gwom of Jos North Local Government Area, the Secretary General of the group, Mr Jamilu Hassan said the gesture was part of the group’s annual scholarship programme.
Mr Jamilu advised the beneficiaries to be serious and focus on their education as this was an opportunity to seek knowledge and become self-reliant in the future.
He promised that the foundation would continue to offer scholarships to orphans.
Some of the guardians of the orphans thanked the group for the gesture and urged the beneficiaries to justify the offer by being dedicated to their studies.
