The African Union Commission (AUC)  is set to  harmonise Nigeria engineering curriculum with 53 other African countries for effective development of engineering practice in the continent.

The Executive Director of Scientific, Technical and Research Commission (STRC) of the AUC, Engr. Ahmed Hamdy stated this in Abuja at the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO) for harmonized technical standards and building codes for all infrastructures in Africa.  

He assured that AU would work with the federation  to develop a model for entrepreneurship, which he said would lead to the dispatch of 54 member states round the member states to enable them develop their entrepreneurship system.

 “Africa will be developed by us and we are the one to move the continent forward because we have the right external resources and brains but we need to organize them in a much better model,” he said.

Also speaking, the President of FAEO, Engr. Mustafa Shehu said  that the MoU would  strengthen professional engineering and technical institutions and help  women and young engineers to develop high level skills to meet up with challenges of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
