Auchi Community, in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, has commissioned its central mosque named Arafat Mosque.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Aliru Momoh, Ikelebe III, said the Arafat is the opening chapter of the spiritual odyssey that brings about tranquility, progress, prosperity and help from Allah.
Otaru, who recalled the inspiration for the naming of the mosque, said he was compelled to name it so in strict deference to its religious significance to Auchi community.
Otaru said prior to his ascending the throne in 1996, there was no single person to memorise the Quran in Auchi, but today about 60 persons from age eight have memorised the entire Quran.
On his part, Sheikh SuleimanMomoh, Commissioner, Planning, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services, National Haji Commission of Nigeria, noted that building a mosque is a wonderful sadaqah of which the reward is unending as long as the people are benefiting from it.
