President of NAA Aliyu Kiliya made the commendation in Osun State recently during the annual general meeting of the association where he decried government agencies that “are not employing the services of auctioneers in disposing of public properties.”
Kiliya noted in a press statement that auctioning remains the most transparent method of disposing government assets because all participants have the opportunity to assess and determine what they feel is the price of what they are.
He said the level playing field eradicates feelings of being short changed because when the bids are opened publicly, each bidder already knows the winner by the amount quoted.
He called on government parastatals and institutions as well as private organisations to employ the services of auctioneers to guide against shady practices in the sales of government used property.
The president appealed to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State and all other state governors to also engage the association in the disposal of cars and other items in their states.
