Death is painful to families and friends, but at this moment, I wish to remember the remarkable life of Dr. Audu Ogbeh, a man whose legacy is woven into the very fabric of our beloved Nigeria. It is a moment filled with both profound sorrow and deep gratitude—a moment to reflect on a life devoted to public service, leadership, and the betterment of our nation.

Dr Ogbeh was not just a politician; he was a visionary thinker, a dedicated farmer, and an advocate for the people. Born in the heart of Benue State, he exemplified the spirit of resilience that defines so many Nigerians. Throughout his life, he nurtured a passion for agriculture, education, and sustainable development, understanding that these pillars were essential to our country’s progress.

As a member of the National Assembly and later as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Ogbeh faced challenges head-on, striving to bring food security and economic growth to our nation. He worked tirelessly to implement policies that would uplift farmers, empower communities, and ensure that all Nigerians had access to the resources they needed to thrive. His commitment to agriculture was not merely a professional duty; it was a personal calling, reflecting his belief in the land’s potential to transform lives.

Dr Ogbeh was a man of great integrity, whose leadership inspired countless individuals. He understood that the strength of a nation lies in its people. He advocated for transparent governance, championed the rights of farmers, and fought against policies that hindered agricultural progress. His dedication to service was unwavering, and his impact on Nigeria’s agricultural landscape remains invaluable.

Today, we also remember the man behind the titles. He was a father, a husband, and a friend—a gentle soul who loved deeply and laughed heartily. His warmth and humour could light up a room and ease the burdens of those around him. He knew how to make people feel valued, and in doing so, he created a legacy of love and respect.

Though we mourn the loss of Dr. Ogbeh, we also celebrate the indelible mark he has left on our hearts and our nation. His passion, dedication, and relentless pursuit of a brighter future for Nigeria will continue to inspire generations to come. Let us honour him by carrying forward his vision—a vision of a prosperous Nigeria where every citizen has the opportunity to succeed.
