The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) FCT council has expressed worries over the slow pace of work of   the committee set up by the Federal Government to review the new minimum wage. 
This was contained in a communiqué issued after the meeting of State Governing Council (SGC) of AUPCTRE FCT council, signed by  Comrade Benjamin Anthony  and  Comrade Sikiru Waheed State Chairperson and   State Secretary respectively held in Abuja.   
AUPCTRE, in the communiqué, urged the minimum wage review committee to purge themselves of any interest that is not in favour of the workers in order to hasten up the completion of the work for onward implementation.
The union said, it condemned in totality, the seeming factionalization of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and pledged its unalloyed loyalty to the President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba and implored all unions and Nigerians alike to give him all necessary support in the interest of Nigerian workers and Nigerians.
It called on the  federal government  to take urgent steps to save our ailing economy as well as to rescind its    decision  on “suspension of the tenure policy of the Federal Civil Service”,  because of its  stagnation tendency in the service.
“The SGC-in-session commends the federal government for setting up the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS), but observed that much is still desired to sanitise the system so as not to use it as a conduit pipe to syphon government money and urges government to take necessary steps in this direction,’’ it said.
The union also condemned the recent move by the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde  Fashola,   to privatize Federal Housing Authority (FHA)  and change its name to Federal Housing Company. “The implication is that, Nigerians would not have access to affordable houses. The union therefore, calls on the federal government to appoint a substantive management team and Board to run FHA for effective operational activities,”it said.
