How are things with you in Gombe United?
I am here to do a job but you know is not every coach who will like to coach Gombe United as at the time I took over. It takes courage and I am quite courageous. A lot of people must appreciate this. The battle is not over yet. We keep working but what I am happy about is that to most people Gombe United have been turned around and that is the first big one I am happy with. W will keep working hard and see what will happen at the end of the season.  But what I can guarantee is that I will do my best day and night to make sure I give out my best for the team. If we don’t make it so be it. However, I am quite convinced we will remain in the Glo Premier league.
Are you banking on home victories to escape the drop because getting away win in the Nigerian league is not easy?
Well there are a lot of bad and good people out there all over the world. We just hope that we would pick points on the road. If we have a God fearing referee who will open up the game, I can assure you that we will pick valuable points in our away matches. I can assure you that on our part we will remain calm and focused to achieve our target.
As a former international, how will you describe your relationship with football fans in Gombe?
  I must confess they are fantastic people. They gave me a tremendous welcome and I am so happy relating with them. I try as much as possible to satisfy them because they inspired me to work harder for the team to get results. I have no option than to work for better results to make them happy too.
Having coached the Super Eagles before, what can you say about the chances of the team qualifying for the 2015 AFCON?
We did not start well but we have a very good team that can turn things around for us to qualify. I have spoken to the technical crew who are my friends, Keshi, Shoromu and Amokachi. All we need do now is not to drop point at home anymore and then win one and draw one on the road and I am quite sure we will qualify and defend the trophy we won in South Africa.
What do you think was possibly wrong in our two qualifying games against Congo and South Africa?
In all sector in Nigeria in-house fighting is not good. When parents are not settled at home you know what will happen to the children. There is ill fighting in the NFF. There is no peace. There would not be peace in Nigeria football, so what do you expect?. What we got was as a result of such ill fighting. I think the best is for them settle their differences as soon as possible for the good of Nigerian football. We can pull the strings but if we will keep working against one another, then the national teams will continue to suffer.
What do you have to say about the feeling in some quarters that Nigerian coaches are not good enough to handle the Super Eagles?
Everybody has his or her own opinion. If that’s what they think that is fine but don’t forget I have won a bronze in Nations Cup, Onigbinde has gotten silver, Amodu a bronze and Keshi has won gold and we are all Nigerians. I think they are wrong to say a thing like that but all we have to do is to keep improving ourselves as coaches because coaching is dynamic. We must always aspire to be up to date.
