Deputy governor, Dameshi Barau Luka, had in April, led a delegation comprising the sports commissioner, Daniel Ogah Ogazi, Othman Bala Adams, a lawmaker representing Keffi-East, and Silas Agara, an aide to the governor, on a visit which culminated in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Basri for the purpose of supplying sports kits as well as assisting in getting sponsorship for the state owned Nasarawa United FC.

During the recent visit, the management of Basri, led by Mohammed Basri, met with Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura who said the state is set to collaborate with the Austrian firm to promote sporting activities in the state.

The governor said such moves will put the state on the template of sports development in the country and the world at large.

“I am so happy to note that Basri is interested in collaborating with Nasarawa state government so that we can have a bilateral relationship build on trust to promote sports in Nasarawa state and indeed in Nigeria”, Al-Makura who was accompanied by his deputy, Luka, the sports commissioner, Ogazi, and the lawmaker, Bala Adams, added.

Earlier, Mr. Basri who led the delegation said “we are here to collaborate with your country and your state in particular, to promote sports.”

Mr Basir, who described Al-Makura as a sports loving governor, congratulated Nasarawa state on the promotion of Nasarawa United to the Nigeria Premier League, saying the feat achieved by the state football team has motivated them to go into partnership with the state in the area of sports development.
