Earlier written by Sheme, Ali Malami, Yusuf T. Albasu and Aliyu L. Kankara, ‘Shata Ikon Allah’ beams its searchlight on the life and times of Shata, particularly as an artist who has made a mark In Hausa music.
Shata was a well-known musician among the Hausa people of West Africa and even non-Hausa’s. His vocals were often accompanied by talking drums, known as kalangu. Born in 1923, he later died in 1999.
