The trial of a 39-year-old automobile mechanic, Frederick Otuu, who allegedly stole a DAF truck worth N4 million, continued yesterday before Chief Magistrate (Mrs) A. O. Komolafe sitting at the Botanical Garden chief magistrate court, Ebute Meta, Lagos.
Otuu was alleged to have committed the offence sometime in March 2018 at the Iddo Railway Terminus, Lagos.
It was gathered that the truck was actually handed over to the accused person, who claimed to have parked it somewhere but the truck somehow disappeared.
The police prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent A. U. Moses, alleged that Otuu stole the DAF 85 truck, registration number YH 250 ENU, property of Event Oil and Gas Ltd of No. 20, Iddo Railway Compound, Lagos.
It was further alleged that the accused person converted the truck to his own use.
When the matter came up for hearing yesterday, Otuu begged for more time to settle the matter out of court.
Mrs Komolafe adjourned further hearing on the case till March 31, 2020 to enable the parties arrive at the out-of-court settlement.
