‘Avoid needless litigations’

This call was made by the Director Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) Tpl. Rahmon Ishola Salami during his visit to the newly reconstituted FCT Urban and Regional Planning Tribunal last week.
He called on residents and various government agencies to comply strictly with the provisions of the master plan as they “strive to contribute their quota to the development of the Federal Capital City [FCC]”.
The director said the visit was part of his department’s effort to ensure proper implementation of the Abuja master plan expressing confidence that the tribunal is capable of tackling the many lingering court cases against FCDA.
He advised those building structures in Abuja to be cautious to avoid unnecessary litigations.
The chairman of the tribunal, Chief Oluwaseyi Balogun said the tribunal is doing its best to ensure synergy among the various agencies charged with the responsibility of managing land related matters in the capital city.
He revealed that part of their mandate is to reduce if not eradicate litigations.
Over the years, court cases have weighed down FCDA.
Most of the cases stemmed from effort to reclaim violated land and restoration of the master plan.
