The Idoma Area Traditional Council (IATC) in Benue State has advised politicians to shun sharp practices during the February 25, and March 11, general elections.
Paramount traditional ruler of Idoma Kingdom, Och’Idoma, Dr John Elaigwu Odogbo, presided over the meeting held in Otukpo on Tuesday during which the advice was handed to the politicians.
The council said, “The 2023 general elections are fast approaching, there is need to maintain decorum by political actors so that we have a peaceful poll as against the acts that will lead to civil unrest.
“Council cautions against violence, thuggery and other sharp practices throughout the general elections. That this time around all hands must be on deck to make sure that votes count. Electing credible leaders this time is non-negotiable.”

It also advised Nigerians to be ready to participate in this year’s national population census and specifically called on all Idoma sons and daughters to make avail themselves to be counted.
