The event which held penultimate Thursday in Lagos was the first in a series of such public enlightenment programs lined up by AVRS for the year.
AVRS chairman, Mahmood Ali-Balogun, explained that the forum’s cardinal objective was to enlighten industry stakeholders on the purpose, nature and operations of the society as well as explain their rights and obligations to them with a viewing of fostering a cordial working relationship in the film industry.
He said the time was due for rigorous and extensive sensitisation of all stakeholders comprising industry practitioners and commercial users of audio visual content across the country. He stressed the need for all prospective members of AVRS – producers, directors, screen writers, lead actors and actresses – to formally register as members and assignors, as the strength of a CMO usually derives from the number of mandates it has in repertoire.
Wawoo TV boss, Dr. Don Pedro Obaseki, who was a part sponsor of the event, admonished stakeholders to eschew rancour and work in one accord towards the overall benefit of the industry.
