Members of the Association of West Africa Universities (AWAU) have elected new leaders who will steer the affairs of the association for the next three years.
The election, which took place during the recently concluded 4th Annual Conference and 6th General Meeting of the association held at Universite Felix Houphouet-Boigny, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire from 2nd to 6th October 2016, resulted in the emergence of Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, Vice-Chancellor University of Ilorin, as the Chairman while Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, Vice-Chancellor Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa, emerged as the Secretary General.
Others elected were Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, Vice-Chancellor University of Ghana, Legon Ghana, as Vice Chairman I (Anglophone) and Professor Abou Karamoko, President Universite Felix Hophouet-Boigny, Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire as Vice Chairman II (Francophone). Professor Habibou Abarachi, President University of Niamey, Niamey, Niger Republic was elected as Vice Chairman III (Francophone) while Professor Musbau. A. Akanji, Vice-Chancellor Federal University of Technology Minna, was the newly elected Treasurer of the association.
