The September edition of the ‘Abuja Writers’ Forum Guest Writer Session’ will feature the trio of spoken word-poet, Bash Amuneni, writer and editor, Chinelo Onwualu and short story scribe, Luis Ogbere
Bash Amuneni, simply known as Bash, has seen his stock rise having been the presidential inaugural poet of 2015. The former banker, who has degrees in architecture and facilities management, is also an essayist, performance poet and has a debut poetry album ‘Freedom’ out since September, 2015. His poem, ‘There is a Lunatic in Every Town’ has been a hit among performance poetry lovers and is set to be the title of his next publication.
Onwualu, who is the editor and co-founder of ‘Omenana,’ a magazine of African speculative fiction, is a graduate of the 2014 Clarion West Writers Workshop, which she attended as the recipient of the Octavia E. Butler Scholarship. Her writing has appeared in several places, including Strange Horizons, The Kalahari Review, Saraba, Brittle Paper, among others. She has been longlisted for the British Science Fiction Awards and the Short Story Day Africa Award.
Asaba-born Ogbere, whose short story ‘Were’ was longlisted for the 2015 Short Story Day Africa Prize is working on a collection of short stories.
The trio will thrill book lovers at the Nanet Suites, Abuja event.
The AWF Guest Writer Session has been a regular staple of the literary scene in Abuja since 2008.
