The essence of good name, great legacy and immeasurable contributions to the society have led the entire members of the Law Students Association (LSA), Lead City University, Ibadan to single out late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Ajibola Ige and Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, for special recognition and role at its 2016 Law Week celebration.
According to a release signed by the public relations officer, LSA, Lead City University , Mr Wale Ojo Lanre, “The programme of the 2016 Law Week which will commence on March 14 and close on Friday March 18 is predicated on recognising the relevance of the law to the students in particular, the individual and the society in general.”
The statement said the Lead City Law Week will formally kick off with a legal walk round the campus early in the day, which will be capped by a public lecture on “The Legal Profession: The Prospects and Challenges of a Prospective Nigerian Lawyer in the 21stCentury”, to be delivered by Barrister Kazeem Gbadamosi, a former chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Oyo, and presided by Hon Justice Nonyerem Okoronkwo, Justice of Court of Appeal, Ibadan Division.
The Moot Trial of the Law Week which is going to be presided over by Barrister Adekola Kareem will hold today, at the Faculty of Law Moot Court in honour of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, for his contributions to the civil society, legal profession and development in Nigeria.
The Day three of the week will commence with an inter-faculty friendly football competition at the university stadium while an oratory competition between Faculty of Law, Lead City University and Faculty of Law, Bishop Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo in honour of the Late Ajibola Ige, SAN, for his contribution to the elevation of oratory and eloquence to enviable status within the legal circle in Nigeria will follow.
