The president and his host held a closed-door meeting and did not make the outcome of their discussion public.
Jonathan had lost the March 28 presidential election to retired General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The president had also met behind closed-doors with Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja last Friday to discuss the transition programme.
Addressing journalists after yesterday’s meeting, Danjuma commended his visitor for conceding defeat to Buhari.
According to him, the outcome of the presidential election and the way Jonathan conceded defeat are very important in the history of Africa.
He said if the Biafran warlord, the Late Odumegwu Ojukwu, had done the same thing after the fall of Enugu when his government fled to the bush, he (Ojukwu) would have saved Nigeria from bloodshed.
“The outcome of the election and the manner in which President Jonathan conceded victory to Buhari is totally new to Africa. It is very important in the history of Africa.
“Ojukwu didn’t do the same after the fall of Enugu. If he had conceded victory to the federal troops, he would have saved the nation one full year of bloodshed.
“President Jonathan has set a history; a record as something to be emulated by the rest of Africa and indeed the whole world. It’s an excellent thing he did,” Danjuma said.
The president thanked the former defence minister for his “fatherly” support during the elections.
