Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have attacked Kawuri village in Konduga LGA of Borno State and destroyed three patrol vehicles belonging to civilian JTF.

Local and security sources confirmed that the incident happened on Monday night.

One of the sources said a member of the civilian JTF, Abba Godori, stepped onto an EID planted by the assailant and died instantly.

“It’s a serious encounter but the military was able to repel the attack without any casualty.

“Unfortunately, three vehicles belonging to the civilian JTF pursuing the terrorists ran over improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by the assailants, and the vehicles got damaged,” he said.

According to the source, the vice chairman of the CJTF, Abba Godori, was on a routine patrol when he stepped onto the IEDs planted by the terrorists, “and he died instantly”.

He said the IEDs were planted by the terrorists along the Konduga-Kawuri road to disrupt troops’ reinforcement from Konduga on the day of the attack.

However, efforts to speak to the police for reactions proved abortive as the phone number of the spokesman, ASP Kenneth Daso Nahum, was not going through.
