The newly appointed vice-chairman of Lobi Stars, Dominic Iorfa, has announced the appointment of Mohammed Baba-Ganaru as the new Technical Adviser of the club.
He replaces Coach Eddy Dombraye who was sacked by the former board of the club after Lobi Stars’ 0-2 loss at home to Abia Warriors.
Baba-Ganaru had coached a number of clubs in the Nigeria topflight like Kano Pillars, El-kanemi Warriors, Yobe Stars and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.
The coach who will be unveiled next week in Makurdi is said to be aware of the huge task before him.
A statement by the club’s Media Officer, Emmanuel Uja, indicated that unlike what transpired in the past, Iorfa will unveil the new technical adviser inside the main bowl of Aper Aku stadium with members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), supporters of the club and other stakeholders in attendance.
The Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu who doubles as chairman of the club is sad to be aware of the appointment of the new Head Coach.
Meanwhile, serious renovation work has commenced on the abandoned McCarthy stadium Wadata where the players are to be accommodated.
It will be recalled that during his time as vice-chairman of Lobi Stars, Iorfa had turned the mini- stadium into an ultra-modern camp but it was abandoned by his successors, which paved the way for illegal occupants to move into it.
Such illegal occupants have been ordered to vacate the premises immediately.
