Omidina perfected his bail conditions as ordered by an Ikeja High Court, Lagos, presided over by Justice Yetunde Idowu, on Tuesday, when the judge ordered that Omidina be released from NDLEA’s custody if he  failed to excrete narcotic substances by yesterday.

 

The judge said: “All bail conditions have been complied with. Mr Omidina, you are free to go and enjoy your Sallah break.”

Omidina had slammed N100 million suit on the NDLEA over his arrest and continued detention on suspicion that he had ingested hard drugs.

NDLEA’s lawyer Mr Femi Oloruntoba asked the court to order Omidina to report at their Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) office on November 11, saying that their investigation had not been concluded.

“We pray your Lordship to order the applicant to report in our MMIA office on Nov.11 because we have to continue with our investigation. We undertake that he will not spend more than two hours with us,” he said.

Omidina’s lawyer, Bamidele Aturu, however, opposed the application to subject his client to further investigation, saying that he was displeased with the treatment his client had received from the NDLEA.

He said: “The applicant told me this morning that after the court sitting on Tuesday, he was on Wednesday taken to an unknown hospital at Victoria Island, Lagos.

“He said he was in the hospital from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. that day and that he was subjected to all sorts of tests. His system was flushed, they removed everything but his entrails and nothing was found still.”

Aturu added that Baba Suwe was taken to the hospital without his consent and also without the knowledge of his counsel. The actor was then called to address the judge to confirm what his lawyer had said. Baba Suwe said, “When I got to the hospital, something was put into my mouth and my anus; water was pumped into me and since then I have been excreting.”

The judge said that she was surprised that the court was not informed about the test. The judge held that if the applicant was to report at the NDLEA’s office, henceforth, his lawyer must be there with him. The matter was adjourned till November 24 for judgement. (NAN)
