Babangida who is also the chairman of Taraba FC Football club said that the Super Eagles would have to dig deep to topple current pace setters Congo and South Africa if they want to defend the trophy they won in 2013 in South Africa.
“I have confident on the ability of the Super Eagles to muscle their way through the group. The Eagles will rise to the occasion and book their ticket for Morocco. It is unthinkable that the Eagles will not qualify
“Stephen Keshi just has to bring back the players that featured at the African Cup of Nations. He has to bring our best legs back to get the results that will see us through to Morocco
“He has to remove sentiment in team selection and be firm in taking decisions regarding the players’ attitude to training and matches. He need not overhaul the team but can beef it up” he stated.
Babangida, also warned that it will not be a wise idea to relief Keshi of the coaching job now as it will be counter-productive for the country.
He said that the Super Eagles have not been having it rosy in recent time but hastened to add that they will bounce back stronger.
