Babawa community of Gezawa local government has called on authorities
concern to increase the number of health personnel posted to its
healthcare facility for effective running of the clinic.

Speaking to Kano Chronicle, a member of the community, Malam Isa Ayuba
said prior to the renovation of the facility, the nearest health
facility they visit was Sir Sanusi Specialist hospital in Kano which
covers several kilometres from the village and they had lost many
people in the process.

Another community member, Malam Isyaku Wada said an international
development agency in collaboration with a Kano based civil society
renovated the facility after it was neglected for years, adding that,
the renovation had resulted in increase of patients’ visitation to the
facility.

He said presently, healthcare workers in the clinic operate on
shifting basis to allow easy and effecting service delivery at the
facility.

“Many people now visit the health facility and as such the facility
runs on two shifts; but that’s not enough we want three shifts for
effective service delivery in the facility. Similarly, the health
personnel posted are few, we need more because Babawa is a very big
village,” he said.

Kano Chronicle gathered that, the health facility was renovated in
2017 with assistance from an international donor partner working in
the area.
