The Chairman of Katsina United, Prince Abdulssamad Badamasi has said he is proud of what his club achieved in the just concluded 2021 Nigeria Professional Football (NPFL) season.
After a shaky performance in the first round which saw them drop into the relegation zone, Katsina United recovered lost ground in the second round to finish in 12th position on the table.
It will be recalled that after some strings of poor results, Katsina United appointed former Hilal Al-Fasher of Sudan coach, Azeez Mohammed in March to come and rescue the club from relegation.
Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, Badamasi said it was a difficult season for his club but with the unflinching support of Governor Aminu Bello Masar, they were able to weather the storms.
He said they got the necessary support to bring in an experienced coach and motivate the players to put in their best in the remaining matches.
“I am satisfied with the position of my club on the table. We experienced some bad results which threatened our place in the NPFL but we posted the best performance in the second stanza of the league.
“Our sports loving governor, His Excellency, Aminu Bello Masari’s continued support was great motivation. Äs a matter of fact, we have paid players and officials’ salaries and match bonuses up to date.
“Apart from adequate funding, we also received a brand new bus from the government to ease our transportation problems.
“We are also grateful to the Commissioner of Sports, Alhaji Sani Aliyu Danlami who followed us to all our away matches in the second round.
“He also ensured we got the necessary support from the government,” said Badamasi.
