Badaru promises immediate release of counter fund to UNICEF

The Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, has directed the Ministry of Health to forward to his office the outstanding counterpart fund of the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) for immediate action in order to curb the menace of malnutrition among children in the state. The governor gave the directive when he received in audience, the Chief of Field Office of UNICEF, Bauchi Field Office, Mr. Bhanu Pathak, in Dutse, the state capital.

Gov. Badaru, commended UNICEF for its  support to the state while expressing the commitment of his government in strengthening partnership with the fund, and he requested UNICEF to organise a technical training for the state’s government officials, saying he would personally attend.

In 2017, the governor released N150m counterpart fund to UNICEF for  the procurement of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) for the treatment of malnourished children in the state.
