The Governor of Niger State and President of Minna Polo Club, Mohammed Umar Bago has invited  lovers of the game of kings to the Minna international polo festival which will gallop-off from July 9-13, 2024 with over 20 teams jostling for top laurels.

The tournament is powered by the Niger State government and a consortium of blue chip corporate organizations like Profile Group,  El-Amin Polo, Heritage 5, Niger Food, Mazibe Farm, Niger State Internal Revenue Board,  Senator Aliyu Wadada, Dangote Industries, among others.

Minna Polo   Secretary and Acting Captain, Ahmed Salisu, has confirmed to Polo Royals that preparations have been concluded for the annual fiesta.

He also disclosed that the tournament which is to be staged at the prestigious IBB Sports Complex is offering four major prizes, and a handful of subsidiary prizes, is primed to be the most exciting and the most competitive Minna polo fiesta in years.

The prizes are the event’s biggest prize, The IBB Cup, the Governor’s Cup, Emir of Minna Cup and Talban Minna Trophy, just as the organizers have lined-up a handful of individual awards and subsidiary cups to be carted home by the winning teams and players who distinguished themselves during the fiesta.

The Tournament Committee Chairman, Mohammad Babangida, has also confirmed that Minna is set to host the glamorous polo fiesta which remains the biggest annual sporting event in the state and one of the most attended polo tournaments in the country.

Two years ago, Nigeria’s most successful high-goal polo team, EL-Amin sent out a Georgian Cup warning to their rivals after their established Never- Say- Die performance saw them retaining the high stake IBB Cup title and Abdulsalami Cup at the expense of hard fighting opponents from Kaduna, Abuja and Jos.
