In his inaugural speech while taking over the mantle of leadership in the state, Bagudu said his administration would lead the farmers to take on agriculture and mining as business rather than occupation, adding that agriculture will be used to get the people of the state out of abject poverty.
“We intend to assist our farmers, fishermen, herders and all those engaged in all facets of agriculture so that we can establish a functional value chain on rice, wheat, corn, groundnut, millet, sorghum, fish, livestock and other produce so that we do not only provide food but create value addition so that our farmers, fishermen, animal husbandry practitioners will become wealthy and get their way out of poverty,” he said.
  The governor also promised to revive the Argungu International Fishing Festival and make sure that it is restored with even more worthiness so that it can contribute to the development of our state.
“We shall create incentives for our young men and women to undertake activities that they can choose from – from agriculture to processing to mining to skills that are required elsewhere – so that they can be able to find jobs that will satisfy their skills endowment and position our state for greatness,” he stated.
