Bagudu also said he will restructure the existing school curriculum in order to accommodate more subjects in science, technical and vocational.
The governor stated this during a visit to Nagari College and Unity Girls Secondary School in Birnin Kebbi.
He said construction of adequate number of technical colleges in the state was part of his campaign promise to reform the education system.
“Our educational institutions are over-stretched. Some of them are not functional and therefore no longer producing the expected products.
“We shall restructure the curriculum in order to instill in our young men and women the necessary skills” he said.
He lamented that most schools in the state are not conducive for learning as their condition is neither motivating to the students nor the teachers.
He said the present administration will make concerted efforts to revitalize the sector for the better.
“We will rehabilitate the existing schools and build new ones to cope with increasing number of pupils and students. We will also build technical colleges to emphasize the acquisition of science, technical and vocational education in the state,” he said.
