Speaking at the launching of the 2013/2014 Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority (SRRBDA) dry season farming at Bakalori, Maidoki said about 406 tonnes of wheat was also produced by the wheat farmers, adding that they have started to receive people willing to invest in the project.
He said with the support of the River Basin Authority, they have been able to rehabilitate and make significant repairs of the irrigation and flood protection structures such as the Dam embankment, power house and some of the operational equipment.
“All broken portions of the 45 kilometres supply canals and main canals have been repaired, 200 Kilometres secondary canals have also been repaired while the de-silting of main drains and secondary drains is going on with the full support of the farmers,” he said.
He added that they have succeeded in assisting farmers to form viable Water Users Association that will not only help in water fees collection but also assist the project.
