Sequel to a recent reshufflement in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Nurudeen Balogun has taken over at the Nigerian Airforce Training Command (TC), Kaduna, as the Air Officer Commanding (AOC). His predecessor in office, AVM Wakil Ahmed, was redeployed to NAF headquarters as director of policy.
Speaking at the handing over and taking over ceremony at the NAF TC, the outgoing AOC urged personnel to accord the incoming AOC the same cooperation they accorded him as the AOC.
Air Vice Marshal Nurudeen Abiodun Balogun was born on April 14, 1964, in Fiditi, in Afijio LGA of Oyo State.
He had his early education at Saint Louis Primary School, Kano, from 1969 to 1976 and his secondary school education at the Federal Government College, Kano, from 1976 to 1981.
His military career began in 1982 when he was admitted into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna. He graduated in 1985 and commissioned as pilot officer. He was a member of the 31st Regular Combatant Course.
Air Vice Marshal Balogun went to the 301 Flying Training School and 303 Flying Training School for his basic pilot and instructor pilot training. On completion of his flying training, he was type-rated in the Alpha Jet Combat Aircraft.
In the course of his military career, he held several appointments including administrative officer, Operational Service Wing, 99 Air Combat Training Group, Kainji; staff officer Grade 2 Admin, HQ 99 Air Combat Training Group Kainji; acting commanding officer, Base Services Wing, 99 Air Combat Training Group Kainj; operations officer, NAF Detachment, Lungi Sierra Leone; commanding officer, Fighter Wing, NAF Detachment, Lungi Sierra Leone; staff officer Grade 1 Operations and Training Wing 303 FTS Kano and chief instructor, Basic Flying Training School Kano.
