The president of Automobile and Touring Club of Nigeria, (ATCN), Mr. Ishaku Bamayi, has charged female participants to be committed to karting motor sport.
He gave the charge recently at the karting motorsport competition titled ‘Girls on Track’ organised by ATCN in Abuja.
According to him, ‘Girls on Track’ is a platform for grassroots development of motorsport in Nigeria among girls.”
Bamayi also said “take advantage of the competition to maximize your potential and go on to compete at a higher level, especially those of you who are interested in competing at international competitions”.

At the end of the competition, four female drivers carted home six trophies and were awarded certificates.
Ethiopian Nice took the overall best driver, followed by Regina and Nigeria’s Khalila Wakama who took third position in the Karting Slalom, while the Ethiopian trio of Regina, Nice and Benedict Hercules went home with first, second and third positions respectively in the digital motorsport category.

More than 100 girls from Nigeria and Ethiopia participated in the three-day competition which witnessed the training of officials on rules and how to officiate karting tracks.
Participants were also introduced to and trained in digital kart used for selection of the best drivers who later participated in karting practice, out of which about 20 drivers qualified for the final day of the competition held at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
