Fatima Bamidele is to leave the federal health ministry as permanent secretary, two weeks after staff protested against her continued stay at the ministry.

President Goodluck Jonathan approved Bamidele’s deployment to the finance ministry, said the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, Bukar Goni Ali.
He directed that process for Bamidele’s hand and take over be completed before July 24, according to a statement from his director of communications, Tope Ajakaiye.
In the protest, workers locked down the health ministry’s premises for hours to demand that the head of service post Bamidele out of the ministry.
A central working committee of the workers’ union said agreements reached in a long-running dispute with the ministry were not implemented.
The CWC chairman, Matthias Ogbalor, said, “We found out that management has been deceiving the union going for two years now.”
The workers claimed that an estimated N4.6 billion in budget funding was returned, “when we have issues on ground.”
According to him, the money includes arrears on course allowances, death benefits and other accumulated debts.
The ministry’s press office has kept from issuing an official stand.
