As part of efforts to address banditry, the parliament of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State is working on a bill to compel landlords and estate agents to involve traditional rulers in the selling or renting of property.

The bill, which is expected to be passed by the legislature of the LGA next week, was conceived by the local government council to strengthen security in the area.

Daily Trust on Sunday reports that Igabi is one of the local government areas in Kaduna State battling banditry. 

The Chairman of Councillors Forum of Kaduna State, Alhaji Auwal Muhammad Koraye, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting, organized by the Man ‘O’ War Nigeria, to sensitize landlords, estate agents, and traditional rulers on the need to key into the state government’s efforts to address insecurity. 

He said the law when passed will compel landlords and estate agents to carry along traditional rulers while selling or renting their properties.

In his remarks, the Commandant of the Man ‘O’ War, Igabi Local Government Command, Abdulmatin Ibrahim, urged stakeholders to support the state in the fight against insecurity, saying security is everyone’s business.
