Bandits have reportedly abducted three farmers at the Sabon-Kurutu village in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A resident of the area, simply identified as Muazu, said the incident happened on Monday, around 5:23 pm.
He said the victims, Nabila Matthew, Juliana Matthew and Monday Marcus, were working on their farms when the bandits attacked them.
He said the bandits whisked away the victims into the bush, adding that two other farmers, who were also at the farm, narrowly escaped.
A community leader from the area also confirmed the abduction in a telephone chat with our reporter yesterday.
He said the farmers were among the villagers who fled Sabon -Kurutu village two months ago, following constant attacks by bandits on the community.
“Some of the villagers returned to the village to commence farming when the bandits struck again and abducted the three farmers,’’ he said.
The community leader said soldiers stationed at the Katari community had been informed about the abduction.
A member of the vigilante in Kachia also confirmed the incident, saying the vigilantes have mobilised alongside the troops to trace the location of the bandits.
The spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, could not be reached for comments as a text message sent to him was not replied as at the time of filing the report.
