Suspected bandits have  abducted three policemen attached to Keta outstation in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Dozens of unidentified gunmen arrived the village and placed the outpost under attack. The motive behind the attack could not be ascertained.

Zamfara State has enjoyed relative peace after a deal between the bandits and the local vigilantes was brokered in December last year by the state government under the leadership of the deputy governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala Muhammad.

But there were pockets of deadly raids on some communities believed to have been carried out by some defiant armed bandits, thus threatening the peace process.

Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has expressed concern over the recent attacks on some communities in the state.

He said the attacks by some gunmen in the last few weeks in Bakura, Maradun and some parts of Anka local government areas by gunmen called for a total condemnation and would not be accepted.

The spokesman of the state police command, DSP Muhammad Shehu, said the Divisional Police Officer of Tsafe LGA and other police officers were despatched in search of the missing officers.
