Bandits have reportedly abducted three women and a 13-year-old child who were returning from a farm in Azaara village in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Ishaku Bala, a member of the community, said the incident occurred on Saturday, around 5:23 pm, when the bandits emerged from the forest and whisked the victims away.

He added that the armed bandits, who were numerous and wielding sophisticated weapons, crossed through the neighboring Kurutu village to abduct the victims.

According to Bala, the bandits had earlier invaded Tungan-Makeri village, where they carted away foodstuffs and other items after breaking into several shops.

He noted that the attackers targeted a time when the majority of villagers had gone to their farms before striking the community.

A community leader from the area, who spoke to our reporter by telephone on Sunday, also confirmed the abduction of three women and a child returning from the farm.

He stated that upon receiving the information, he quickly alerted soldiers stationed at the Maraban Jibo community.

“The troops and some vigilantes later trailed the bandits that Saturday evening, but I am yet to know if they were able to track them down,” he said.

As of the time of filing this report, the spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, could not be reached for comment on the incident.
